This site is a tribute to a great man, my great grandfather, Alfredo Jahn. Born on October 8th 1867 in Caracas, Venezuela, died July 12, 1940. Alfredo Jahn Hartmann (in Venezuela the mother's maiden name is used as a second last name) was a famous man in Venezuela, known to many as Papa Jahn. The third largest cave in Venezuela was named after him. He is listed by the Smithsonian as one who collected plant specimens for the Smithsonian's Department of Botany. He was also a mountain climber and mounted an expedition to Pico Bolivar in the Venezuelan Sierra Nevada mountains in 1910. Please follow the links below for more information. I hope you enjoy my tribute. - Alfredo Jahn V
